Online is the Way to Go in Poker
Author: admin05.11.2009
While there is nothing quite as fun as sitting down with your poker buddies for a few hours of ring play in a brick and mortar atmosphere, getting together with the guys does not hold a candle to learning how to become a great poker player online. Despite all of the information that you can gleam on your opponents through their tells when playing in person, the sheer volume of action and loose players online makes online poker the way to go if you are looking to make poker a consistent form of income. In the modern world of poker, any amateur poker player who is looking to take a shot at taking their game to the next level needs to have a place to play at any time, day or night, and, in most parts of the world, that is only possible in the online arena.
Although it is a little more difficult to get a solid read on your opponents when playing online, the number of weak little fish swimming in the online poker rooms more than makes up for the lack of physical and verbal tells. The truth of the matter is that half of the players in most poker tournaments are multitasking while they play with a television show or movie in one window and messaging or surfing in another, and it is cinch to learn how to spot these players and take their money while they wait for a monster hand. Other players belly up to online poker table with a head full of beer looking for loose action, while still others are problem gamblers who will chase a hand down to the river hoping for a miracle card. While it might not be thrilling to make a profit off of players who are not fully dedicated to the poker game, it still makes for easy money for a serious player who can consistently stick to a tight, aggressive style of play.
The other major benefit of playing online poker is the speed of play. When playing poker with friends or in a live game in some back room, hands often take much longer than an online game as players hem and haw or try to get a read on one another. Even in the poker room of a brick and mortar casino, there is still a lag between hands as chips are counted and cards are shuffled. When you are playing poker online, there is no delay other than the occasional player who wanders off without sitting out, and the amount of hands you can see and chips that you can earn increases exponentially.
